As some of you may know by now, I LOVE spas. So since it was my birthday recently, I decided to look into booking a relaxing spa day out. That’s when I found the spa at the Landmark.
What excited me about this place is not only the aesthetics but the fact that the pool area is chlorine free. Plus, out of many gyms and spas that I viewed on the Hussle app, none of them seemed to have that special touch like the Landmark does!
However, it does have a slightly higher price tag to use the facilities than any other spa or gym. But since it was my birthday I had to try it out!
So, how much does it cost? To use the gym and spa facilities it usually costs £45 per person if you book through their official website directly. However, if you book it through Hussle it’s £30 per person – So you save a third on the price!
So if you was like me and want to find out what’s inside and whether it’s really worth the price tag, read your heart out on this…
First Impressions of The Landmark
If you’re booking to exclusively go to the spa, you have to keep in mind there are two entrances. So it’s best to go through the back entrance if you’re looking to go directly to the spa. However, it was nice to look around and see other facilities such as the Winter Garden and The Mirror Bar.
Upon arrival the staff are extremely courteous and friendly. But I was a little worried at first! Because when it comes to high-end hotels, if you’re not dressed the part the staff will make it very clear that you’re not!
It’s also really lovely to experience tropical vibes in London despite one of the indoor parts being called “The Winter Garden” – Especially in the middle of a bitterly cold February!
Overall the atmosphere is absolutely lovely and spacious. Plus bringing nature indoors always works wonders.
The Spa at The Landmark Relaxation Lounge
Upon arriving at the reception the staff will guide you to a relaxation lounge. There you’ll have complimentary fruit and infused water, which is a nice little touch.
The Landmark Changing Area
Lockers & Changing Rooms
The changing rooms are extremely clean and spotless. But one thing to keep in mind that the steam room is in the changing rooms – not near the other facilities.
They also always provide complimentary towels, robes and slippers which are really fluffy and comfortable. But I cannot stress how important it is to actually wear your slippers! Because I slipped up countless times in the pool area.
Also, all of the lockers have coded locks so I thought I’d give a warning – Try not to lock yourself out! Because this happened to me multiple times when I typed in the wrong code. So, what happens is that it remembers whatever code you put in – So try not to get it wrong. But if you do, not to worry because the staff can easily unlock it for you.
Another nifty thing about the changing rooms is the fact that they have a machine to dry off your wet swim clothes and complimentary bags. This is perfect avoiding getting your bags and other stuff soaked!
But, the downside – The steam room wasn’t switched on or working. But I think this is due to the fact that it was a very quiet time of day when we visited.
Finally, if you’re body conscious there aren’t any private changing rooms. So you may have to change in the toilets like I did! – Which are basically a part of the changing area anyway.
Oh, and yes, I am really cheap. So I decided to bring along my rituals products – And believe me, eucalyptus scents really boost that fresh and rejuvenating spa vibe!
Showers & Shower Facilities
The showers are extremely pleasant as most of the showers in this spa are rainfall ones.
As for the shower gel, shampoo and conditioner provided, they’re pretty decent and have this refreshing grapefruit scent – This is great for people who don’t want to be carrying bottles around.
The State of The Art Gymnasium Area
I did not personally use any of these machines but I am impressed! Because I find many gym environments very intimating – unlike the gym here. Also, I love how this gym overlooks the pool yet still maintains that sense of privacy due to the patterns in the panes of glass separating the gymnasium and pool area – So you won’t be stared at directly while swimming!
There are many state of the art machines with a ton of tv channels, radio and even wifi. Plus, the great thing about this gym is that it does not get too busy, even after rush hour. At most, you’re looking at a maximum of three people visiting in the afternoon – But keep in mind that I haven’t visited on weekends before!
Pool, Sauna & Jacuzzi Facilities
The Tranquil Turquoise Pool
This pool is around 1.35 metres, so it’s not too deep and not too shallow. However, you have to keep in mind that you have to shower before using the pool and jacuzzi.
But the ultimate thing what I adore about this pool is not only how beautiful it looks, but the fact that there is no chlorine. That’s right! Absolutely no chlorine. Also, you seem to float and swim more easily than you do in conventional chlorine pools.
Another plus is this place being perfect if you’re exercise shy and body conscious. Because I also find getting into a bikini and swimming extremely daunting.
But if you’re like me, not to worry! Because there are robe hangers and towels avaliable everywhere – So you don’t have to prance around half naked!
Finally, I felt super comfortable swimming in the pool, even when it got busier around rush hour. Plus, what reassures me is the fact that many people visit this place by themselves – So if you’re anxious about visiting solo, this is really a non-intimidating place to go to unwind.
A sanarium is different than a sauna, this is because the temperature of a sanarium is lower than a traditional sauna. But this was absolutely perfect as I find some saunas far too hot and overwhelming.
Also, I usually cannot breathe through my nose as I get that burning sensation in saunas – But in a sanarium you don’t get that. Plus, the sanarium has mood lights which really set the ambience!
What’s also useful is the fact that there are two showers at the side of the sanarium which spray from multiple directions.
The Blissful Jacuzzi
Okay, I am going to be honest. This was the best part.
And yes, it sounds lazy and despite the fact that I did a few lengths in the pool, I spent most of my time in the jacuzzi.
The jets are extremely powerful and the temperature is absolutely perfect at 36 degrees. There is also an insanely powerful swan tap that you can use but I am not sure what the purpose of it is – So if you’re familiar with spas, I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.
The Final Verdict
Overall rating: 9.9/10
This place is absolutely divine and I have no faults because the higher price tag is 100% worth it. Because in terms of luxury, convenience and comfort – The Spa at The Landmark does not leave a single stone unturned! However, just two small and minor improvements can be made – The steam room issue and the drinks.
This is because many spas have herbal teas available and this would’ve been perfect for the relaxation longe in the winter! Plus, steam rooms are also a vital spa feature for these colder seasons. But maybe I am too fussy about this? If you’re a regular spa visitor, I’d love to hear your thoughts on this too!
Finally, if you’re looking to truly relax and escape from the hustle and bustle of London – This place is perfect and is worth every single penny.
